Albert Schnelzer
Composer weekend with Schnelzer: Inauguration and premiere
The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s Commissions
Albert Schnelzer will be featured at Stockholm Concert Hall’s Composer Weekend 2017. His music has been described as a cross between Franz Liszt and Iron Maiden. It is energetic and progressive, yet lyrical and delicate. Since his breakthrough in Paris in 2004, he has been praised for his ingenuity and spontaneous music. His works have been performed to much acclaim in the UK, US, and Australia.
At this opening festival concert, we will hear the premiere performance of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s commissioned work, Bulletproof. We will also hear some of the work that brought Schnelzer so much praise, as well as music from a source of inspiration: Stravinsky.
Tales from Suburbia was written on behalf of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. The cello concerto Crazy Diamond refers to a song by Pink Floyd; the solo will be performed by Jakob Koranyi, who tours Europe frequently with a chamber music programme and as a soloist with the major orchestras. Koranyi’s recent engagements include his solo debut at Lincoln Centre in New York.
In recent seasons, American conductor Evan Rogister has conducted at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera and at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm.
