Piano recital with Yuja Wang

Yuja Wang – Destination Unknown

Yuja Wang is an artist like none other. Not only is her technique extraordinary; so too is her degree of artistic ambition and willingness to take risks – great art can only be created when habits are broken and everything is at stake. As with this concert.

No predetermined programme will be found here. Instead, Yuja Wang invites the audience to share her musical journey, destination unknown. What happens this evening at Stockholm Concert Hall will be unique, and the concert’s unfolding will be based on a moment’s creative impulse, the interplay between soloist and audience, flashes of inspiration and spontaneous musicianship.

Yuja Wang has done similar performances before, including on tour in Asia, where every evening included a different repertoire. Everyone in the auditorium will be tuned in to an exclusive concert experience, with a programme about which we will only be able to say anything after the fact – while knowing it will never be repeated.

Yuja Wang is Stockholm Concert Hall’s special Artist-in-Residence this season. She is appearing with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra at two concerts: in a duo programme with violinist Leonidas Kavakos – and here, in her own unique piano recital. Her capacity as an artist and pianist has been described worldwide as amazing, sometimes superhuman. Yuja Wang is, in short, an enchanting virtuoso artist with an incredibly powerful draw.
