The Horror

Blood, murder and Satan! Terrifying movie scores presented by Orvar Säfström.

Stare into the abyss and let the terrors wash over you. Horror is one of mankind’s oldest sensations, as strongly connected to our genetically programmed survival instinct as our sexual urges. Through the ages we have been fascinated by the horrid, ghastly and grotesque.

On the back of two celebrated concert productions, We Come in Peace (science fiction) and Sagas (fantasy) Orvar Säfström and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra now wander into the darkest, winding corridors of madness where the dead have come to life and the servants of evil hold court.

The Horror is a film score concert out of the ordinary. From the Academy awarded soundtrack to The Omen (1976) we bring forth the black mass choirs of ”Ave Satani”. In Hellraiser (1987) deranged demons drag their screaming victims into dimensions of suffering to a psychotic waltz. The escalating madness of Jack Torrance in The Shining (1980) illustrated by Penderecki’s insane strings. The scores of The Exorcist (1973), Halloween (1978) and The Beyond (1981) all tell the same tale: this is not going to end well.

The Horror is not suitable for younger children.
