Monday at Last with Trio Nova

The string trio ZilliacusPerssonRaitinen is prevented from performing in the concert on January 29th due to illness in the ensemble. Instead, a replacement program has been developed which will be executed by Trio Nova, consisting of Klara Hellgren violin, ZPR's own Kati Raitinen cello and Terés Löf piano. Formerly announced guest soloists Henrik Naimark Meyers and Torleif Thedéen will not be part of the program. 

Trio Nova is a well established piano trio in Sweden. These three musicians have been brought together by their common love of chamber music . They are all well known musicians based in Stockholm. Klara Hellgren is a member of the Uppsala Chamber Soloists, a highly eminent string quintet where she plays both violin and viola, and also concertmaster in the Uppsala Chamber Orchestra, Kati Raitinen is a principal cellist in the Royal Swedish Opera Orchestra and Terés Löf is one of Sweden’s most accomplished pianists who performs frequently to high critical acclaim. 

Trio Nova plays two duos by Germaine Tailleferre (1892–1983) – a pioneer and the only female member of the group of French composers referred to as Les Six (where we find for instance Poulenc, Milhaud and Honegger). This is followed by music by Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara (1928–2016), easily one of the foremost Finnish composers in the generation after Sibelius. The first half of the concert concludes with music by Fauré; the Piano trio was one of the last pieces he composed.

The last piece of the programme, Johan Ulléns Tangosvit Dödssynderna (The Deadly Sins), is a work written especially for the ensemble. The suite consists of seven tangos, one for each deadly sin.
