Muti is back with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra – in a symphonic programme.

After his first encounter with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in 2013, internationally renowned composer Riccardo Muti promised to return to Konserthuset Stockholm and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. He did so with aplomb in a hit concert in 2016 at which he led the orchestra and several vocal stars in a concert performance of Verdi’s MacBeth.
Muti has an unyielding integrity, in which the music must always come first. He is also known for his temperament, but is simultaneously a humble artistic soul who endeavours to secure the place of culture in people’s lives. Since 2010, he has been chief conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, a position he was offered after many of the orchestra’s members more or less pleaded for him to take the job.
The relationship between the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Italian conductor has deepened with the concerts of recent years. Now he guest-performs once again at Konserthuset with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra – this time, with two famous symphonies: Schubert’s “Tragic” and Brahms’ Symphony No 2.
