The Nooran Sisters

Meet the Nooran Sisters!

With their phenomenal energy and enormous musicality, sisters Jyoti and Sultana Nooran are undoubtedly among the most fascinating and exciting artists to come from India in recent years. With their Qawali/fusion music based on the Sufi tradition, combined with explosive on-stage charisma, they give audiences an experience above and beyond the ordinary.

After working on the hit film Highway in 2014 and a subsequent line of follow-ups, the Nooran Sisters have become shining stars of Bollywood. They have also released several albums that have had an incredible impact – Sohna Tera Darbar Sherawaliye (Live); Sufi Magic from Nooran Sisters (Live); Yaar Gariban Da; and Meri Maa Best of Durga Mata Jagran Bhents and Bhajans.

The sisters grew up in Punjab and had their first musical training from their father, Ustad Gulshan Mir, and grandmother Swarn Noora, who was a famous Sufi singer in the 1970s. The Nooran Sisters’ breakthrough came with the song Tung Tung on MTV’s Indian talent hunt show, Sound Trippin. Today, they are among the absolute most popular musicians of India, and in recent years, they have won numerous distinctions, including Best Bollywood Song at the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA).

The Nooran Sisters are now coming to Sweden for the first time ever, and together with their 12-person-strong band, they will take the main stage in Konserthuset Stockholm.

The concert is a collaboration between Risteatern och Konserthuset Stockholm.
