Co-Principal and member of the orchestra since 2003.
Maria Sandlund has been a member of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra since 2003 and holds the position of alternate section leader. Sandlund was previously employed with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and also held a position with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
She studied in the music programme at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with professor Thorvald Fredin, followed by two years in the soloist diploma programme under the instruction of philharmonic members Håkan Ehrén and Valur Pálsson.
Maria Sandlund obtained her soloist diploma in spring 1999 when, with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, she performed Giovanni Bottesini’s Concerto No. 1 in F-Sharp Minor. In addition, Maria Sandlund has been a soloist with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and an array of other orchestral associations and chamber orchestras.
