Karl Frisendahl

Principal and member of the orchestra since 1996.

Karl Frisendahl has been a section leader with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra since 1996. Prior to that, he was a solo trombone player with the Danish Radio Sinfonietta. He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with Sven-Erik Eriksson. His studies also included one year at the Royal Danish Academy of Music with Carsten Svanberg. 

Karl Frisendahl studied under three top trombone players in the US: Joseph Alessi from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra; Jay Friedman from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Mark Lawrence from the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.

Karl Frisendahl has performed as a soloist and a chamber musician in Sweden and abroad and regularly plays with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. He has also presented the world premiere of pieces by composers such as Fredrik Söderberg, Kjell Perder and Paula af Malmborg Ward.
