Peter Eriksson grew up in Arvika, where he began his musical studies with Kjell Larsson. He subsequently studied in Oslo with professor Ernst Glaser and in Stockholm with professors Gösta Finnström and Sven Karpe at the Royal College of Music, where he was in the viola soloist programme and also obtained a degree to teach violin.
Peter Eriksson has been employed by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra since 1980. He has been chairperson of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra for many years and is thereby chairman of the board of the Stockholm Concert Hall Foundation and the orchestra’s programming council. Peter Eriksson has also been artistic director of the Saxå Chamber Music Festival, which he also founded, since 1985. He is also chairperson of the umbrella organisation Sweden Festivals.
Peter Eriksson is also active as a teacher, among other places, at the Stockholm University College of Music Education (SMI). He is also a part-time musician at Immanuel Church and director of its music school.
