The Seven Wonders of the World

The Seven Wonders of the World. What are they? Where are they? In this performance, we join travel guide Ayla Kabaca, who takes us, with the help of the music, to the seven wonders of the world with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, led by flight captain Andreas Hanson.

Ayla Kabaca is our guide as we fly to the seven wonders of the modern world with the help of music, together with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, led by flight captain Andreas Hanson. Among other places, we stop at the Colosseum in Rome; Machu Picchu in Peru; the Great Wall of China; the Taj Mahal in India and the desert heat of Petra.

This long-range trip is accompanied by music that suits each destination: Death of Tybalt from Romeo and Juliet by Prokofiev (Colosseum in Rome); Hindu Dance from the Aladdin Suite by Carl Nielsen (Taj Mahal, India); El Condor Pasa (Machu Picchu); and Moon Shadow on the Spring, Chinese folk song (Great Wall of China), to name just a few.

We take off to Klas Backman’s musical description of an airplane whose whirring engines pick up speed and finally lift off from the ground.
