Resounding Academy – Wilhelm Stenhammar
Mobility, control and poetic precision. New book on Stenhammar.
In conjunction with Magnus Haglund’s newly released book on composer, conductor and pianist Wilhelm Stenhammar, the Royal Swedish Academy of Music offers a Ringing Academy on the same theme. In the book’s nine essays, Stenhammar is illuminated as a person and an artist, in the middle of the National-Romantic era, but headed into a new age.
A conversation with the author will delve into the challenging and radical elements of Stenhammar’s artistic approach, the union of austerity and agility, control and poetic precision. We will also hear resounding examples of Stenhammar’s songs and piano music.
