String trio ZPR was founded by Cecilia Zilliacus on violin, Johanna Persson on viola and Kati Raitinen on cello. The trio continuously works to explore the string trio repertoire and collaborates often and gladly with composers who are active today. Monday At Last is the concert subscription in which ZPR, now for the eleventh year in a row, invites guest artists to present newer and older music with them, often in close contact with the audience.
This time around, ZPR welcomes Finnish accordion player Janne Rättyä. He was the first ever to give his own accordion recital in Berlin’s major concert hall, Philharmonie. That was in 2002, and since then he has appeared on many of the world’s major concert stages. We will hear him here in several pieces, including fellow countryman Magnus Lindberg’s Jeux d’anches for solo accordion and Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne for violin and accordion. This evening’s big event is the world premiere of Kalevi Aho’s Quartet for accordion, violin, viola and cello.
