Romeo and Juliet – school concert

A dream-like play on the theme of Romeo and Juliet, and forbidden young love. For upper-secondary students.

Welcome to this dream-like play on the theme of Romeo and Juliet, and forbidden young love. This performance is a partnership between the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, El Sistema Södertälje, and Livet Bitch, a theatre company for girls and non-binary kids and teens aged 11–19. It was developed by the participants and by director Linda Mallik. The text by Shakespeare and the young performers are accompanied by classical music.

Romeo and Juliet is also the result of an educational collaboration between musicians from the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and El Sistema’s chamber orchestras, which consist of more experienced young musicians looking to challenge themselves and further develop their playing.

Romeo and Juliet is presented both as a school concert for upper-secondary students and as a public concert.

Norwegian Halldis Rønning will lead the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. She debuted with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in 2018 and regularly conducts orchestras at home in Norway and abroad.
