Genre: Chamber music

Vilde Frang & Denis Kozhukhin

Our Artist-in-Residence Vilde Frang performs chamber music.

Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang, who has been one of the world’s most coveted soloists for many years. She debuted with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in 2009 and has appeared at Konserthuset Stockholm on multiple occasions since then. She also participated in the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Sakari Oramo’s tour of Spain and Italy in 2018.

She is Konserthuset’s Artist-in-Residence for the 2021/22 season and will perform on multiple occasions. At this concert, she takes on three masterpieces for violin and piano together with pianist Denis Kozhukhin.

Brahms was in the picture-perfect village of Pörtschach am Wörthersee when he composed his romantic and charming first sonata for violin and piano. It is sometimes referred to as Regensonate, the Rain Sonata, because in the final movement, Brahms reuses one of the themes from his song Regenlied.

After Schubert’s incredibly demanding and virtuosic Fantasy D 934, Vilde Frang and Denis Kozhukhin conclude with Bartók’s rhythmically powerful and technically challenging Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1.
