Rising Stars with clarinet

The phenomenal artist Magnus Holmander with the pianist David Huang.

Introducing a Rising Stars bonus concert! The pandemic affected of course this chamber music weekend tradition, and many artists have had to wait until now to present their programmes in public. The final instalment of Rising Stars 2023 features the phenomenal Swedish clarinetist Magnus Holmander, whose initially planned concert was due in 2020.

Holmander studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and has participated as a clarinettist, dancer and magician in Martin Fröst’s shows Dollhouse and Genesis. For his “fiery virtuosity, stage presence and harmonic depth,” he was awarded the Royal Swedish Academy of Music’s newly instated Blåsmusikpriset (Wind Music Prize).

The programme includes Swedish music by Andrea Tarrodi and Molly Kien, Ukrainian music by Miroslav Skorik and Polish music by Henryk Górecki. Holmander is joined by the renowned and versatile Swedish pianist David Huang.

Rising Stars is a unique and forward-looking collaboration between 22 of Europe’s leading concert halls, all members of the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO). Young musicians and ensembles from various countries are selected each year and given the opportunity to tour the concert halls and perform before international audiences. Experience shows that those who are selected as Rising Stars also have internationally successful careers.
