External promotor: Beridna Högvakten

Peter Asplund and the Swedish Mounted Band of the Royal Lifeguards.

“It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.”

Meet Peter Asplund, one of Sweden’s most distinctive, outstanding and renowned jazz trumpeters, together with the rich traditions of the Swedish Mounted Band of the Royal Lifeguards. Spend an evening experiencing how two musical genres merge in arrangements that were specially composed for the orchestra, specifically for this concert.

Enjoy jazz standards, marches, national romantic music and a taste of a brand new piece by composer David Nelson, which the Swedish Mounted Band of the Royal Lifeguards will perform on horseback next season. We will also hear the premiere of a piece by the band’s music director, David Björkman.

The Swedish Mounted Band of the Royal Lifeguards comprises 27 brass players and three percussionists who perform both on horseback and on foot. They also give seated concerts. Each year, the band gives around 140 concerts, 45 of which are mounted guard parades.

Peter Asplund, jazz trumpeter and singer, has led several of his own groups and been a central member of many of Sweden’s top big bands. Together with saxophonist Magnus Lindgren, he also leads the Blue House Jazz Orchestra, Konserthuset Stockholm’s own big band.
