Music by Lars Gullin with Fredrik Lindborg trio and String Quartet
The Fredrik Lindborg Trio along with a string quartet create enchantingly beautiful music infused with joy, splashed with Swedish melancholy and sprinkled with American swing.
One of our greatest musicians of all time, Lars Gullin, played and composed primarily jazz, but he also kept one foot in classical and folk music. This unique blend is featured in arrangements created primarily by Fredrik Lindborg.
The trio, which in other contexts is called LSD (Lindborg, Sjöstedt & Daniel) is one of Sweden’s most progressive jazz ensembles and has toured all over the world. They are known for their outstanding musical interactions, in which the band sounds like a single voice. Jason Marsalis has praised the trio, and even the great Sonny Rollins has expressed his appreciation for the ensemble LSD.
The string quartet consists of top musicians who are all regular soloists with different orchestras and constellations on the major stages in Sweden and internationally.
Together, the trio and quartet form a unit that infuses Swedish jazz with new dimensions.
The album “a Swedish Portrait” will be released in conjunction with the concert.
