Music by Rehnqvist, Monnakgotla and more.
New Friday is a subscription for forward-looking listeners who want to open their ears to the innovative music of today. The creative and ambitious MalvaKvartetten is a string quartet that gladly pushes the boundaries when it comes to selecting a repertoire. The four members are passionate about presenting music by young composers from different parts of the globe which is not yet part of the standard repertoire of the classical music scene.
To date the quartet has given world premieres of some 30 pieces and has collaborated with composers such as Hardi Kurda, saxophonist and composer Mikael Godée and accordionist and composer David Löfberg. They also have an ongoing collaboration with accordionist Gerhard Schiewe in Berlin and are part of the ensemble Midnattsorkestern (The Midnight Orchestra).
MalvaKvartetten, which was formed in 2008 at the Academy of Music and Drama at the University of Gothenburg, tours Sweden regularly with several children’s performances and has introduced thousands of kids over the years to chamber music through their repertoire.
This evening, MalvaKvartetten will present music by Karin Rehnqvist, Tebogo Monnakgotla and Lo Kristenson and more.
