Kellermann on guitar

The Swedish guitarist playing specially composed music – including two world premieres.

Jacob Kellermann is established as one of Sweden’s most active and in-demand guitarists. In addition to regularly performing all over Sweden, he has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician internationally. Kellermann has released three critically acclaimed albums on BIS Records, the most recent of which received a Grammis Award.

With extensive chamber music and solo repertoires, often comprising his own transcriptions, he continuously seeks out new forms of expressive potential for his instrument. This has also led to a passionate interest in contemporary music and close collaborations with a number of composers, resulting in several works composed specifically for him, including by Japanese Toshio Hosokawa.

In fact, this concert includes a world premiere by Toshio Hosokawa. Influences from western music – from Schubert to Webern – and traditional Japanese music can be heard in his work. We also hear another contemporary Japanese composer: Yu Kuwabara.

In addition, there is music by young Nordic composers. A new piece by Lisa Streich has its world premiere, and Finnish Lotta Wennäkoski has also composed a piece especially for Kellermann.
