Genre: Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra

At Skansen

The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert at the open-air museum Skansen. Terés Löf performs the solo in Amy Beach’s Piano Concerto at the Solliden stage.

The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s very first Skansen concert took place back in 1918 in Friluftsteatern, the open-air theatre. After a pause, the orchestra moved its summer concerts to Solliden in the 1930s and 40s. Even during the 1970s and early 1980s, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra regularly appeared on the stage of Solliden.

With this concert at Skansen’s Solliden stage, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra is thus restoring a lovely tradition. They will do so with two classical gems: Mozart’s Overture to the Magic Flute and Dvorák’s symphony From the New World, which he composed during his years as a professor of composition in the US, and which became one of the world’s most played and popular symphonic works.

In an additional connection to the US at this concert, Terés Löf will perform the Piano Concerto by the far too seldom heard American composer Amy Beach (1867–1944).
