Lied Concert with Stutzmann and Södergren

Lieder on the Theme of Love



For the season’s fourth Lied concert, we will meet alto Nathalie Stutzmann and pianist Inger Södergren. Before the intermission will be the German-language portion, with music by Schubert and Wagner, and following the intermission, we will hear music by a trio of French composers: Fauré, Chausson and Debussy. The theme of love runs throughout the entire programme.

The versatile Nathalie Stutzmann has also had a parallel career as a conductor for some time, and is principal guest conductor of the Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra and Orchestre de Chambre de Paris. Stutzmann regularly sings with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C., and the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, in addition to making a name for herself as an outstanding interpreter of Mahler. Stutzmann will return in May to conduct the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in a performance of music by Ravel and Mozart.

Inger Södergren began her piano studies in Stockholm and continued in Vienna, Salzburg and Paris. Her international career has taken her to Paris, London, Berlin, Milan, Madrid, Amsterdam, New York and Tokyo. Since 1994, she has regularly worked with Nathalie Stutzmann, and together, they have recorded songs by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Poulenc and Chausson.
