New Friday
New Friday is a new, forward-looking concert series.
This brand new subscription series is for forward-looking listeners who want to open their ears to the innovative music of today. We will meet in Grünewald Hall on four Friday evenings in a close-up experience with the music and musicians. This is the season’s first New Friday.
Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra cellist Hanna Dahlkvist and percussionist Mika Takehara present a programme with both electronic and theatrical elements. For example, Thierry De Mey’s Silence must be! for solo conductor is a suggestively rhythmic performance based on the soloist’s heart rate. Georges Aperghis’ Le Corps à Corps is “musical theatre for a percussionist and his zarb”, which is a drum.
In her music, Malin Bång explores parameters such as energy and movement and keenly uses objects other than traditional instruments, as here in Arching for Cello and Tools.
