António Zambujo

One of Portugal most innovative artists.

António Zambujo’s influences reach far beyond fado and include musicians like Chet Baker, João Gilberto and Tom Waits. António Zambujo and his star quintet constantly seek new paths forward while maintaining fado’s sense of longing and sorrow in songs that unite the music of southern Portugal with Brazilian pop. Zambujo has won several awards, including the Amália Rodrigues Foundation’s award for best male fado singer.

2016 was a strong year for António: he sold out Lisbon’s legendary concert arena Coliseu dos Recreios fifteen times, and together with fellow musician Miguel Aráju, he filled Coliseu do Porto thirteen times. António Zambujo’s album Rua da Emenda went double platinum, and his latest album, Até Pensei que Fosse Minha – a tribute to Chico Buarque – launched 2017 by going platinum.
