Japan and Sweden celebrates 150 years

Japan and Sweden celebrates 150 years of diplomatic relations with this opening concert.

Ambassador of Japan H.E. Mr. Jun Yamazaki and Mrs. Junko Yamazaki invite to a concert commemorating the 150th year anniversary of the establishment of  diplomatic relations between Japan and Sweden.

The concert is led by Tomoya Nakai, musician and composer. He is one of few male performers mastering the string instrument koto, where most practitioners are female. He has been awarded various Japanese music prizes and has participated in several television programs. He has regularly performed in various parts of the world, including Sweden. 

The program includes traditional Japanese music as well as newly written pieces by Nakai. We also hear Yukino Yamamoto playing the shamisen, Tomoka Nagasu on the shakuhachi och and the satsuma-biwa, and Yuki Tashiro, violinist of the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra.
