Jens-Christoph Lemke

Principal and member of the orchestra since 1989.

Since 1989, bassoon player Jens-Christoph Lemke has been section leader of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. He previously held similar positions in the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Danish Orchestra in Copenhagen. 

With the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, he has performed Richard Strauss’ Duet Concertino, Gubaidulina’s Bassoon Concerto, and on multiple occasions, Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto. Jens-Christoph Lemke is a member of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Wind Quintet, with which he has played many concerts and recorded several albums.

Lemke also works with period instruments and has played with the Drottningholm Theater Orchestra, Rebaroque, the Swedish Baroque Orchestra, the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble and more. He is a member of the Orpheus Baroque Ensemble and teaches at RSPO Orchestra Academy, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s international orchestral academy. He has guest taught at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and at MMCK in Japan. He is also frequently active as a chamber musician.
