A Sibelius Special
The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra has a rich Sibelius tradition. Within a year of the orchestra's formation in 1902, Sibelius appeared on the program for the first time: Symphony No. 2. And the dense and iridescent Symphony No. 7, which stands as both the conclusion and pinnacle of Sibelius's chain of symphonies, was premiered in 1924 by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra with Sibelius himself as conductor. Explore the documentary Sibelius & Oramo on Konserthuset Play, as well as recordings of all the symphonies and more.
