KVAST – 40f

An innovative flute quartet paints surprising soundscapes.

The flute quartet 40f navigates a singular soundscape that captivates listeners. Numerous composers have written music specifically for the quartet. Like Kvast, 40f is now celebrating 10 years. Since their formation, they have toured Sweden and abroad, from Fylkingen in Stockholm to the historic Musikverein in Vienna.

From the beginning, 40f has pursued a brand-new flute sound and delicate, emotional playing. Their works may include text, electronics and improvisation – and 40f challenges any preconceived notions about what to expect from a flute quartet. 40f has also given performances for children and workshops for young people.

40f comprises Ann Elkjär, Jill Widén, Åsa Karlberg and Anna Svensdotter. At this concert, we will hear pieces by five Swedish composers, one of which is a world premiere. So open your ears, release your preconceptions and wade in to these original soundscapes. For example, how does Tyskamossarnas Sugluft (“Air Currents of German Mosses”) sound?
