New Friday with Klakimara

Klara Hellgren and Mika Takehara explore minimalistic music.

New Friday is the subscription for forward-looking listeners who want to open their ears to the innovative music of today. At this concert, we hear Klakimara (replacing the previously annonunced Norrbotten NEO and Agata Zubel).

Klakimara consists of violinist Klara Hellgren and percussionist Mika Takehara. The programme is made up of three sections that in different ways put pieces by Takehara in dialogue with other composers. It is centered around minimalism, the duo says:

”Small motives constantly changing shape, constant movement, slow, fast, flexible. In this concert we take you on a journey into the suggestive worlds of minimalism, where John Cage’s Six Melodies represent the inner worlds and John Adams’ Road Movies the outer worlds. These pieces are central to this programme, and the other pieces dance around them.”

The versatile violinist Klara Hellgren has a repertoire ranging from the baroque to the present. She is a member of the Uppsala Chamber Soloists and concertmaster of Uppsala Chamber Orchestra. Japanese-Swedish percussionist Mika Takehara is one of the leading in her field and she has performas as soloist with orchestras around the world. She also focuses on chamber music,  often in collaboration with composers and cross-genre.

New Friday is the series for anyone who is curious and interested in exploring the new music of our era. Come early, stay late – the bar will be open before and after the concert with drinks and appetizers. The music and sound design before and after the concert is created by Anton Ingvarsson.
