Tribute to Django Reinhardt

External promoter: Lundgren Music

Sweden’s leading interpreter of Django Reinhardt, Gustav Lundgren, returns to Konserthuset Stockholm with his band, which comprises Martin Widlund on guitar, Aurelien Trigo on violin and Juan Patricio Mendoza on double bass. Lundgren is one of Sweden’s most active jazz guitarists internationally. We have previously heard him at Konserthuset with Stockholm Swing All Stars, Bo Sundström, Blue House Jazz Orchestra, Antoine Boyer and Hot Club de Suède.

Gustav Lundgren has toured 25 countries on five continents; he has contributed to over 60 albums and released 20 in his own name. Musicians he has worked with include Lisa Nilsson, Linda Sundblad, Salem Al Fakir, Kleerup, Maia Hirasawa, Jorge Rossy, Wille Crafoord, Petra Marklund and Swedish House Mafia.

In addition to the quartet, singer Frida-Hedvig Roth Sandberg will also perform; she was a hit at Konserthuset in 2018.

During the second set of the concert, we will hear the fabulous RP Quartet from Paris. The band has released three records and toured all over the world. They are famous for their modern interpretations of hard bop compositions in the vein of Django Reinhardt. We will hear music by composers including Thelonious Monk & John Coltrane. Members of the group are among the most established jazz musicians of the Paris jazz scene.

An Evening of Django Reinhardt will simultaneously observe the birthday of the legend (23 January 1910).
