Is a special repertoire necessary for young people?
The world-famous Kronos Quartet has launched an enormous project with a new quartet repertoire for young people entitled “Fifty for the future”. Karin Rehnqvist is one of 50 selected composers working with the project.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Music presents a discussion in which we will ask the questions: Is a special repertoire necessary for young people? What is the difference between composing for young people and for professionals? How do we give young people appropriately sized challenges? And musical significance – what is it?
Throughout the evening, we will hear examples of pieces from the abovementioned project with a first-class string quartet from Edsberg Castle/the Royal College of Music.
In partnership with the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
