La dolce vita – Gala evening

A tribute to the music of Italian cinema.

Welcome to a lavish evening of cinematic soundtracks. At this concert, audiences will enjoy a generous programme featuring many of film history’s most famous soundtracks – live with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.

Movies such as Fellini’s Amarcord, Visconti’s The Leopard or Dino Risi’s Scent of a Woman have all left powerful marks on the history of film. But they wouldn’t be anything without the incredible music of composers such as Nino Rota, Ennio Morricone, Armando Trovajoli, Luis Bacalov and many others.

Nino Rota composed music for over 150 films and won an Oscar for the soundtrack of The Godfather Part II. In addition to Amarcord, he composed the music for classic films such as La Strada, Satyricon and La Dolce Vita with Anita Ekberg and Marcello Mastroianni in the lead roles. And we mustn’t forget Federico Fellini’s 8½.

Ennio Morricone is widely known for composing the music to many “spaghetti westerns”, such as A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More with Clint Eastwood. Here, we will also hear selections from Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in the West, and of course, from the beautiful Cinema Paradiso.

The evening will also include specially designed projections to accompany and enhance the experience with visual interpretations of the movies.

A production by Sugarmusic.

Music consultant William Ross. Visual script Giampiero Solari. Visual artist Giuseppe Ragazzini. Executive producers Caterina Caselli Sugar & Filippo Sugar. Producers Andrea Cotromano & Elisabetta Biganzoli. Exclusive distribution International Music and Arts.
