CultureNight018 – The Philharmonic up close

A classical quartet programme with a string quartet from the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra

Many Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra members are also active chamber musicians. Here, four string musicians form a quartet and offer selections from the programme they will present at their concert in Grünewald Hall on 22 April.

We will hear a movement from Mozart’s celebrated Hunt quartet, dedicated to creator of the string quartet Joseph Haydn; parts of Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 1, for which he was inspired by role model Beethoven, and music from the first of British Doreen Carwithen’s award-winning string quartets.
