Honeck replaces Muti
Please note: Riccardo Muti has been obliged to cancel and is replaced by Manfred Honeck.
Due to illness, Riccardo Muti has been obliged to cancel his concerts with The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra this week. He is not permitted to travel, on doctor’s orders, and has thus no possibility to work and perform in Stockholm.
He is replaced by Austrian Maestro Manfred Honeck. The earlier announced programme – Schubert Symphony No 4 and Brahms Symphony No 2 – has been changed to Schubert Symphony No 8 and Brahms Symphony No 1.
Renowned for his distinctive interpretations, Manfred Honeck has served as Music Director of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra since 2008. As a guest conductor Manfred Honeck has worked with the world’s leading orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic and the foremost American orchestras. The other day he was distinguished with the Artist of the Year award at the International Classical Music Awards.
My picture of Birgit
In 2018, the music world will observe the 100-year anniversary of Birgit Nilsson. Konserthuset will begin this anniversary year by presenting Kenneth Derlow’s lithograph Min Bild av Birgit (My Picture of Birgit) in the stairwell of the main foyer.
