Stockholm Syndrome Ensemble

La femme du siècle: a tribute to Nadia Boulanger.

A programme woven around the teacher, conductor and composer Nadia Boulanger (1887–1979), who for nearly a century was admired and coveted in equal measure in the music world. We will hear music by Nadia and her little sister, wunderkind Lili Boulanger – as well as by composers and musicians who were friends or students of Nadia: Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Gabriel Fauré, Jean Françaix, Carin Malmlöf-Forssling, Astor Piazzolla and Quincy Jones.

The Stockholm Syndrome Ensemble was born in 2012 from an ambition to create concert experiences that are free from the conventions of chamber music. Their repertoire is broad and rich with contrasts, and Stockholm Syndrome Ensemble often bases its concerts on, for example, a course of events, state of mind or – as in this case – a person. The members of the Stockholm Syndrome Ensemble have prominent positions in Stockholm’s orchestras and their own solo careers.
