Organ Matinée with Ulla Olsson
Star Wars in Olsson's own arrangement.
In Konserthuset’s popular organ matinée subscription, audiences get to hear Sweden’s leading organists play the building’s own organ – one of the largest instruments in Europe!
Ulla Olsson is a colourful organist and following her studies in Malmö, Copenhagen and Paris, she now plays in churches and at festivals in Sweden and abroad. When she gets to choose herself, she selects music from the Romantic and late-Romantic repertoire, or from video games and movies. She also enjoys enhancing the atmosphere of the performance with her clothing, which is inspired by the nineteenth century Victorian era. Ulla has released many albums that have received positive reviews from the media.
At this organ matinée, she will perform organ music by two composers who share the surname Williams. Carol Williams, Britishconcert organist and composer, began her musical endeavours as a five-year-old and enjoys working withmusicians in other genres such as jazz, pop, blues and rock. Ulla will play a toccata by her entitled Venus from 2014 and the piece Twilight from 2013.
The other Williams is John Williams, the man behind the popular soundtracks to Jaws, E.T. and the Indiana Jones movies. From him, we will hear Ulla’s arrangement of the Star Wars theme.
