Genre: Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra

Mozart Piano Concerto No. 23

Change of soloist due to illness: Radu Lupu is replaced by Federico Colli.

Italian pianist Federico Colli (born in 1988) replaces Radu Lupu, who due to illness has been obliged to cancel. The programme remains unchanged. Federico Colli came to prominence after winning the Salzburg Mozart Competition in 2011 and the Gold Medal at The Leeds International Piano Competition in 2012.

By now, Colli has recorded praised CDs (Chandos label), performed at many of the foremost theatres around the world, as well as with the best orchestras and conductors (including Sakari Oramo). This marks his debut with the Royal Stockholm Philahrmonic Orchestra. The magazine Gramophone wrote: “There’s no doubt that Federico Colli is one of the more original thinkers of his generation.”

The concert will begin with the unique Swiss composer Rolf Liebermann’s Furioso, music which casts itself between jazzy resonance and dreamy notational paintings. In conclusion, chief conductor of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra Sakari Oramo will lead the orchestra in fellow countryman Jean Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2 which, with its Mediterranean brightness and classically elevated sensibility, is one of his most beloved works.
