Eric Ericson Chamber Choir

The trailblazing choir celebrates 75 years

The Eric Ericson Chamber Choir presents a primarily Swedish a capella programme – true specialities for this trailblazing choir that is now (2020) celebrating 75 years. Indeed, through innovative works by Ingvar Lidholm, the choir and its founder Eric Ericson showed Sweden and the world what a choir at the highest level is capable of doing.

The programme also includes music by Sven-David Sandström, who recently passed away. The music of Palestrina, Brahms and Britten offers international and historic perspectives. Fredrik Malmberg, chief conductor of the choir and successor to Eric Ericson, leads the concert.

The Eric Ericson Chamber Choir was founded in 1945 by Eric Ericson, and since then it has taken a central place in the Swedish and international music scene. Today the choir’s repertoire is very broad and for generations of Swedish composers, “the Chamber Choir” has been an ideal ensemble, with its typical Nordic sound and virtuosity. The Eric Ericson Chamber Choir ranks among the very top of professional ensembles internationally. Since 2003, the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir has had a close collaboration with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra at Konserthuset.
