Kind of jazz – Jan Lundgren Trio & Deborah Brown
The musical journey begins in the centre of jazz.
An entire world is reflected in Jan Lundgren’s three concerts under the collective title Kind of Jazz. After last year’s success, this is the second edition of Kind of Jazz, with brand new creative encounters. “Genres shouldn’t die in established forms. Jazz can include so much and music should always evolve,” says Jan Lundgren. He is one of our foremost musicians and through some 50 albums and tons of projects and collaborations, he has demonstrated his ability to embrace tradition with simultaneous self-renewal.
Early in his career in the 1990s, Jan Lundgren frequently played with the well-credentialed American vocal virtuoso Deborah Brown. They also made an album together. Lundgren and Brown have kept in touch ever since, but this is still a reunion of sorts. Together, we will revolve around the heart of jazz – among classic 1950s jazz standards.
In addition to Jan, the Jan Lundgren Trio includes Mattias Svensson on bass and Zoltan Csörsz on drums. The trio has recorded numerous acclaimed albums and had its breakthrough with the album Swedish Standards, which also won Orkesterjournalen’s (Orchestra Journal) Golden Record award in 1997.
