Genre: Chamber music

Monday at last with a quintet

David Huang, Linnea Andersson Meilink and Vidar Andersson Meilink are guests.

Monday At Last is the concert subscription in which violinist Cecilia Zilliacus and cellist Kati Raitinen create original programming in consultation with violist Johanna Persson. Each concert also includes internationally renowned Swedish and international musicians. Pianist David Huang, violinist Linnea Andersson Meilink, and violist Vidar Andersson Meilink guest-perform at this concert.

Among other works, we will hear Amanda Maier-Röntgen’s personal yet powerful piano quartet from 1891. It is undeniably evident here that Amanda Maier-Röntgen was a composer of international excellence. This is also one of her best-known pieces.

Already during her lifetime, Polish Grażyna Bacewicz was a uniquely successful female composer. She graduated with a degree in violin performance and composition from the conservatory in Warsaw and combined composing with her life as a touring soloist. This dense and explosive piano quintet with Neoclassical elements is rhythmically striking, yet beautiful, with a magically shimmering sound.

Grammy-nominated American composer Missy Mazzoli was recently described by the New York Times as “one of the more consistently inventive, surprising composers now working in New York”. Her piece Isabelle Eberhardt Dreams of Pianos is inspired by writer Isabelle Eberhardt, who abandoned her aristocratic life for a life as a nomad in North Africa.

Jonas S. Bohlin composes for every format: large orchestra, solo concertos, chamber music, music for choir and more. His work also includes the opera Tristessa, which had its world premiere at the Royal Swedish Opera in 2018 and was described by newspaper SvD as important and beautiful. We will hear his evocative and lovely Inhabitants I, II and III for violin and cello.

Please note
The concert will take place with an audience of maximum 120 people in the hall. Our ticket system ensures that you and your company (a maximum of eight people) have a distance of at least one meter to other members of the audience.
