Kulturnatt Stockholm – Eric Ericson Chamber Choir
Experience a world-class choir from your seat on the stage or in the stalls.
The Eric Ericson Chamber Choir is among the most renowned professional ensembles in the world. Since 2003, it has enjoyed a close partnership with Konserthuset Stockholm and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
Founded in 1945 by Eric Ericson, who was only 27 at the time, the chamber choir has a broad repertoire. Generations of Swedish composers have viewed the “Chamber Choir” as an ideal ensemble, with its typical Nordic sound and virtuosity.
On Kulturnatt Stockholm, the choir juxtaposes the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and Arvo Pärt, under the baton of its conductor Fredrik Malmberg. Both musicians’ work is spiritual and offers solace, even though it was composed in very different times and places. We are also treated to a fitting series of seasonal songs: David Wikander’s lovely Förvårskväll (“One Early Spring Evening”) and Hugo Alfvén’s delightful arrangement of Och jungfrun hon går i ringen (“And the Maiden Joins the Ring”).
