About the concert

På svenska

Musical improvisation for children with significant motor and cognitive challenges, together with their families. Free admission. Limited capacity – booking required.

With easy-to-play, specially adapted instruments, we create a unique sound world where each child contributes according to their own abilities and impulses. Together, we explore music using glockenspiels, Celtic harp, percussion, microphones with exciting sound effects – even iPads. We also incorporate sensory elements such as scents and textures.

This is a space for the whole family – for what we affectionately call the “Funkisfamilj”: families of children who face extra challenges in everyday life.

Children with significant motor and cognitive challenges often thrive in musical improvisation. It’s about responding to impulses and being drawn into sound. During this session, musicians and families play side by side – shaping the music together in the moment. Parents, siblings and the child with disabilities all take part on equal terms.

Fritt Spelrum is a music programme that creates imaginative, creative spaces for children and young people with disabilities. The team consists of musicians and workshop leaders with extensive experience in the music world, as well as in working with individuals with a wide range of physical and cognitive differences.
