IN THE SPIRIT OF DUKE ELLINGTON

External organiser: Stockholm Swing All Stars.

Stockholm Swing All Stars returns to Konserthuset with a jazz concert dedicated to Duke Ellington. Ellington constantly renewed and refined his repertoire, which includes showpieces like “Take the A-Train” and “It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing”.

Stockholm Swing All Stars irreverently carries this legacy forward, yet still with veneration for the master. Swinging, skilled and with unerring emotion, they show that there are always new perspectives to take on this classic American music. With a smile, Ellington would have nodded and said, “I do love you madly!”

In addition to a selection of his classics, the band will present a few less familiar pieces from Ellington’s enormous body of work. We can also look forward to some of their own material in the spirit of the master.

Autumn’s concert will be presented in Konserthuset’s main hall, where Duke Ellington appeared exactly 50 years ago in 1967. “That gives us an obligation, but we’ll only be spurred on,” say the Swedish jazz stars.
