Stockholm Swing All Stars

In The Spirit Of Basie and Ellington.

Two of the biggest trendsetters and personalities in jazz are brought together in this concert: sophisticated composer and arranger Duke Ellington and the ultra-swinging, riff-based music of Count Basie. Despite their differences, the common ground is clear: blues and never-ending swing.

The band’s highly accomplished arrangers select pieces that highlight the distinctive traits of the Duke and the Count’s music, uniting the tunes with the unique personality of Stockholm Swing All Stars. New takes on music by the Duke and the Count are laced with other compositions in the same spirit.

This concert will be both swinging and moving. At times the music gallops at a furious pace, only to take a peaceful and lovely turn in the next instant.

Rising star Karl Olandersson’s self-assured trumpet is at the top, while Göran Lind’s solid bass forms the foundation. In between, we have Sweden’s foremost swing drummer Mattias Puttonen and the endlessly innovative and present Daniel Tilling on piano. Fredrik Lindborg’s magnificent tenor is not to be missed, nor is Klas Lindquist’s elegant alto saxophone and clarinet. Trombone player Dicken Hedrenius’ endless stream of ideas are a delight to hear.
