Ted Gärdestad – signed Peter Nordah
External promoter: Universal Music
On the album “Ted Gärdestad – signed Peter Nordahl”, arranger and producer Peter Nordahl reset the focus on Ted Gärdestad’s voice in 2017. For the first time in the Swedish music scene, the original songs were separated from the original recordings and then given a brand new framework together with a symphony orchestra.
After two completely sold-out concerts at Konserthuset Stockholm with the Gävle Symphony Orchestra, arranger and conductor Peter Nordahl is now giving a special additional performance on 9 September.
For this Grammis-nominated album, whose cover design was nominated for a Golden Egg Award, the reception has been as lyrical as the music. “This is what Sweden sounds like in its purest and fully chlorophyll-green form,” wrote columnist Jan Gradvall in DI Weekend. “Stunningly beautiful,” stated Sveriges Television’s reviewer Per Sinding-Larsen. “Respectful adaptations that carry both sunlight and life’s salty spray,” said Dagens Nyheter’s Johanna Paulsson in her description of the eleven tracks.
Maybe you have already heard Sol, vind och vatten (“Sun, Wind and Water”); Nordahl’s version was number 1 on Sveriges Radio’s chart programme Svensktoppen for over 40 weeks.
This concert provides the chance to experience all songs from the album live. We will hear Ted and Kenneth Gärdestad’s songs, from Ett stilla regn (“A Quiet Rain”) from the debut album in 1972, to the very last recording, I den stora sorgens famn (“In the Arms of the Great Sorrow”) from 1994. And of course we will also hear popular favourites such as Himlen är oskyldigt blå (“The Sky is Pure Blue”) and the aforementioned Sol, vind och vatten (“Sun, Wind and Water”).
Over the years, conductor and composer Peter Nordahl has produced acclaimed albums with Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Skifs and Carola, among others. Just a few years ago, he received nominations for both a Guldbagge and a Grammis Award for the music from the film Monica Z. He has also released two acclaimed and Grammis Award-winning albums with Sven-Bertil Taube under the title Hommage.
