A talented young soloist makes his concert hall debut with music by Scarlatti, Skog, Liszt and Prokofiev.
After studying with Staffan Scheja and Johan Fröst at Lilla Akademien high school, Olof Wallner was accepted for undergraduate studies at the Royal College of Music/Edsberg, where he studied under Mats Widlund. After earning both a master’s degree and a certificate there, he is now continuing his studies at Accademia Internazionale Musicale di Roma with Konstantin Bogino.
Olof has participated in numerous competitions and festivals in Sweden and elsewhere in Europe, and his many successes include first place in the Stockholm International Music Competition, and a finalist place in the Chamber Music Federation of Sweden’s competition Ung & Lovande (Young & Promising) together with viola player Albin Uusijärvi. Olof has also received several scholarships from, for example, Royal Swedish Academy of Music, S:t Johannislogen, Musikens Hus Vänner in Uppsala and Bifrostorden.
At this concert, Olof Wallner performs some of his absolute favourite works. First we hear three sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti, followed by Inspired Integration from 1997 by Ylva Skog, and Sergei Prokofiev’s famous Piano Sonata No. 7. After intermission, the concert concludes with the mythical Piano Sonata in B minor by Franz Liszt.
