Andreas Weise – Meta Roos – Glenn Miller Orchestra

Glenn Miller Orchestra, the world-renowned ensemble with that characteristic orchestral sound, returns to Konserthuset Stockholm. This time, they are performing with two of Sweden’s greatest interpreters of swing music – Meta Roos and Andreas Weise.

Nothing but swing is in the air as Meta Roos and Andreas Weise sing with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, whose roots are in the heyday of the swing era. The audience is treated to solo numbers from both singers, as well as duets. Backing them up is the 17-member big band, which also performs music from its own repertoire.

Originally from Dalarna, Sweden, Meta Roos is a Swedish dansband singer who discovered jazz. She always has a sparkle in her eye and a hearty dose of humour, which may be why, after her acting debut in the movie “1939”, she was offered roles in Peter Flack’s variety shows, in which she participated in fully four shows. Swing music has always been close to Meta’s heart, and she is undoubtedly one of Sweden’s foremost interpreters of Ella Fitzgerald.

Andreas Weise became a familiar name when he participated in Swedish Idol in 2010. He discovered Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. at a young age, an interest that inspired him to begin writing his own songs. He developed his register and vocal style on his own, becoming established as one of Sweden’s most popular musicians and interpreters of swing.

Glenn Miller Orchestra Scandinavia formed in 2010 and performs with a license from Glenn Miller Productions, Inc., New York, USA. The orchestra is led by trombone player Jan Slottenäs and regularly tours Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Internationally, the band is considered the foremost of the four licensed Miller orchestras in the world. They are based in Stockholm and members include several younger musicians from Sweden’s elite jazz performers.

If you love swing music at its best, then this is definitely the show for you! The band performs several of its biggest numbers from Glenn Miller’s repertoire, including a few songs with Meta and Andreas. The band also backs up both singers as they perform standards from the Great American Songbook, and much more.
