Blue House Youth Jazz Festival 2026

Registration for the 2026 edition is now open. Welcome on 20–22 March to three days of jazz festival activities, including workshops, lectures, concerts, and competitions for young people from across the country.

The Blue House Youth Jazz Festival is intended for members of big bands and jazz ensembles from Sweden’s culture schools, aesthetic upper-secondary school, folk high schools, and music colleges. The program includes three days of workshops and lectures with Swedish and international jazz musicians as well as several concerts, and culminates on the last day with the Swedish Big Band Championships and Jazz Ensemble Competition. The Blue House Youth Jazz Festival at Konserthuset Stockholm draws over 400 students every year. Workshops are led by both international and Swedish jazz artists and educators.

At the Blue House Youth Jazz Festival 2025, the festival’s packed programme featured Camille Thurman & the Darrell Green Quartet, Ababhemu Quartet, Mainland Jazz Collective, Mattias Windemo, Jan Adefelt, Bengt Stark, Stefan Gustafsson, Lina Löfstrand and many others.

New this year is that Saturday’s workshops will take place at Kulturama Hammarby Sjöstad. The festival begins with registration on 20 March at 11.00 at the Konserthuset Stockholm and concludes on Sunday 23 March at 17.00.

Important information before you register

Registration and Terms

Registration is open until 15 December, but places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so please register as soon as possible. Due to the enormous interest (last year it filled up after just over a week) and the limited number of places, the following applies:

  • maximum 40 participants per school
  • maximum two small bands may compete per school (but additional bands are welcome to take part in the festival)

Cancellations and Price

Cancellations are free of charge up to and including 31 January; after that, registration is binding.

Price (musicians, band leaders, accompanying persons): SEK 950 per person. The price includes workshops, seminars, a concert ticket for Friday’s jazz concert, refreshments, and a T-shirt.
