Carry a piece of Konserthuset with you
Historic copper from the roof of Konserthuset Stockholm transformed into works of art.
The exterior of Konserthuset underwent extensive renovation in 2025/26. The work was completed in time for the building’s centenary in the summer of 2026. It involved far more than a fresh coat of paint – it was a major undertaking requiring skilled craftsmanship, with every detail carefully considered and equal attention paid to the building’s history and its future.
As part of the renovation, copper sheets were replaced, giving rise to the idea of creating something from the historic copper. Konserthuset therefore joined forces with the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design to organise a competition for students on Konstfack’s Jewellery and Corpus programme.
Over the summer, the winners Ebba Bruce, Vera B. Zornat and Erik Thomas Corneliusson completed the works that will be available for purchase at Konserthuset. At a ceremony held in conjunction with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s concert on 16 September, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts will present the winners with their prizes. The works will also go on sale that day.
The Göran Lagervall Foundation is providing prize money of SEK 27,000 for the winner in each category.
Ebba Bruce

Euterpe Brooch

“In Greek mythology, Euterpe is the Muse of music, associated with the power of music and melody. I created this brooch from historic copper from the roof of Konserthuset Stockholm, linking Euterpe with another woman who played an important part in the building’s history: Rosa Nachmanson, whose bequest provided the initial funding for the construction of Konserthuset Stockholm.
The Swedish word grundplåt – literally ‘foundation plate’, but also meaning initial capital – takes on a double meaning here. Euterpe becomes not only a muse of music, but also an embodiment of the female patron. The preserved patina bears traces of time and history – a memory of the Konserthuset Stockholm of which this copper was once a part.”

“The physical trace left by a concert is often a ticket. I see the ticket as a reminder of a personal experience, a tangible trace of the place itself and a piece of the history of Konserthuset Stockholm. The copper’s green patina bears witness to a history filled with music, movement, culture and joy.
When the ticket is broken into two, the two halves become bookmarks and, just like a paper ticket or receipt, can slip between the pages of a book. The owner can give one half to the person they attended the concert with, or to someone dear to them. Each ticket is numbered, just like a concert ticket indicating a numbered seat in the auditorium.”

Candle Holder

“My candle holders are inspired by the Corinthian columns that give Konserthuset Stockholm its monumental character. The form is pared-back and minimalist, yet retains echoes of the columns’ elegance and the flowing folds of a stage curtain. A rough, patinated exterior contrasts with a gleaming, highly polished interior.
It is a tribute to the architecture of Konserthuset Stockholm and the distinctive columns lining the building’s façade facing Hötorget.”
