The organ matinée subscription featuring performances by Sweden’s leading organists has expanded and gained more and more popularity. With its magnificent facade, the organ in Konserthuset Stockholm is one of the most famous in Europe, and with 6,100 pipes, it is also one of the biggest.

Since 1989, Ralph Gustafsson has been the organist at Maria Magdalena Church in Stockholm. He is also a professor at the Royal College of Music and regularly performs concerts internationally with a repertoire spanning early Baroque to contemporary music. He has recorded numerous albums, including an almost complete documentation of the Swedish late-Romantic repertoire for organ. In 2011, he received the Gotthard Arnér Award for the Promotion of the Art of the Organ.

Here, Ralph Gustafsson will take on Otto Olsson’s late-Romantic and monumental Organ Symphony No. 1 from 1902. Otto Olsson was the leading Swedish concert organist and organ expert of his era. His music is permeated by French influences and intricate contrapuntal technique.
