Grigory Sokolov
Piano Recital with Grigory Sokolov
For many people, his annual October concert is the highlight of the season.
Grigory Sokolov is among the small troupe of soloists that raises music to soaring heights every time, even managing to surprise the choosiest of audiences. With only two exceptions, he has guest-performed at Konserthuset each year since 2004 in an annual October concert.
Every concert with Sokolov is unique in its own way, for while his technique is utterly peerless, he rarely adheres to a template for piano virtuosos. Among much more, he is known for his ability to draw an unusually broad spectrum of colours and sounds from the keys.
Sokolov’s interpretations are usually deeply personal. At his most recent visit in autumn 2016, he enchanted the audience with music by Mozart and Schumann. This time he will perform Haydn and Beethoven. Whatever he plays, we know that once again, he will astound us all with his rare gift to draw new secrets out of the music.
